I don’t have anything worth writing about today, but I want to write something so I will. Here’s how my Saturday has gone as of 3PM PST.

I met one of my neighbors today, briefly. My wife and I had seen their dog around the neighborhood and the dog looked rough. Very thin and scraggly. Had a harness but no collar. Anyway, we were both worried he might have been being mistreated or abandoned. We watched one of our neighbors take the dog inside but things still felt off. After a few hours of feeling iffy about it, I went to the neighbor’s house to ask about the dog. It was awkward. Of course, it was all mostly harmless. Just an old dog near the end of his life. It’s still sad and I feel bad about bothering my neighbor, but nice to get some reassurance the dog was ok (enough).

Later, I started setting up my new LinuxMint laptop for writing blog posts like this (this is in fact the first post from the new laptop!) Setting up required…

1. migrating the repo where I store the source for this website from OneDrive to Github
2. setting up GitCredentialManager in Linux which was a first for me (I still don’t really know what I’m doing with GPG or the pass util)
3. updating my laptop with all of the ruby tools needed to install the Neocities tooling and the Jekyll tooling

I’ve yet to migrate all of my site management scripts over to a *nix. That’ll be for another day.

I also made a pretty sweet chopped sandwich today, italian-style! Lotta cold cuts, oil, and salt.
